Dermatology Referrals

Is a referral required?

You are welcome to make an appointment at Subi Derm without a referral. The benefit of having a valid doctor’s referral is that you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate.

How do I get a referral?

Make an appointment with your GP and ask them for a letter of referral. Please acquire this letter before scheduling your appointment with us.

I’ve had a referral for Subi Derm in the past. Can I use that?
It will depend upon whether this referral is current. Simply call our clinic and our friendly staff will be able to check if your existing referral is still valid.

Are all procedures eligible for a Medicare rebate?

No, some procedures are not eligible for a Medicare rebate. We can discuss costs and rebate information with you at your appointment.

What is included in the surgical fees? Do I need private health insurance?

We will happily provide a quote for your surgery. This quote will include the following:

  • Instrumentation sterilisation
  • Facility charge
  • Doctor’s procedural charge
  • Sutures, dressings and other disposables
  • Suture removal review.

Private health insurance is not required. Your out-of-pocket expense will depend upon the complexity of your surgery, and if you have a valid referral and Medicare.

There will be no out-of-pocket expense for veterans holding a DVA Gold Card or a particular White Card.
